Dr. L. Michael Tompkins aka Mike Tompkins founded Straight Ahead Management on July 1, 1981. Serving, business, government, industry, education and healthcare, as the name suggests, the firm has provided no-nonsense solutions to clients in the areas of management development, conflict resolution, team building and strategic planning.
As the business expanded to what could be called Organizational Psychology, Tompkins returned to school to earn a doctorate in Counseling Psychology, and became a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California.
Tompkins’ work as a consultant now employs a rare blend of management expertise and psychological acumen, using each in careful measure as the situation lends itself.
In addition to his work as a management consultant, Dr. Tompkins is concurrently in private practice as a clinical psychologist, serving primarily Worker’s Comp patients suffering from chronic pain, PTSD, stress and anxiety. He also works with veterans (and he is one as well, Commissioned Officer, United States Navy), and any adult who is suffering from a problem and genuinely wants help.
Because nearly all his patients have a work-related component to their injury, Tompkins offers a rare blend of psychotherapy with organizational expertise.
He is able to coach patients on how to navigate the bureaucracy, and how to relate constructively to difficult bosses, situations, and coworkers.
He is also accepting patients for his private practice in Sacramento, California with an office in Folsom, and he also sees Worker’s Comp patients with Dr. David L. Green, PhD, QME in Fairfield and Walnut Creek.
